To take a Sellotape® swab, the following equipment should be used:

 

• Non-stick cooking/baking paper

• Scissors

• Clear standard Sellotape®

• Plastic bag

• Pen

Use clear, standard Sellotape® (opaque tape cannot be used). Press the Sellotape® against the area of fungal growth on such substrates as fibre cement or plasterboard backing paper. (This technique is not suitable for timber).

 

Do not fold Sellotape® upon itself. Place Sellotape® on non-stick baking or cooking paper and wrap.

 

Fold the baking paper and place into a plastic bag. Label the bag with the location or sample number, date and any other information that is relevant.

 

Fill in a Submission Form to accompany the sample and send it to Biodet Services Ltd, Unit K, 383 Khyber Pass Road, Newmarket 1023.
