A sterile bottle should always be used when sampling water. This can be done by boiling a container and lid for 10 minutes. Be carefull not to touch the inside of the lid or container after boiling. Water samples should be received within 24 hours.
Stachybotrys/Sellotape® Swab
Use clear standard Sellotape® (opaque tape cannot be used). Press the Sellotape® against the area of fungal growth on such substrates as fibre cement or plasterboard backing paper. (This technique is not suitable for timber).
Do not fold Sellotape® upon itself. Place Sellotape® on non-stick baking or cooking paper and wrap.
